Last week NJ Prison Watch did a Facebook live with former incarcerated women who offered their testimonies on the sufferings and trauma they all experienced during incarceration at Edna Mahan Correctional facility and others. Please take a few minutes to educate yourself in knowing what is happening on the other side of the walls on Edna Mahan right now and share it with your contacts. It is painful to hear but necessary.

In general, incarcerated women were girls who suffered trauma or were institutionalized before being sent to prison. We failed them before. Let's not fail them again. Because they commit a crime they do not deserve to go through sexual, psychological or physical abuse during incarceration. Those correctional officers, who perpetrate the abuses are being paid by us. It is our responsibility to help cancel the abuse culture in NJ correctional facilities now.

I invite you to call your state representative and request action now (609-847-3905). Call Gov. Murphy (609-292-6000). Call AG Grewal (609-292-4925). #CloseEdnaMahan.
