Menendez ditches constituents by blocking drug-price bill

In an “e-letter” to constituents, U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J., told us he is continuing to fight for as many of New Jersey’s priorities as possible in the reconciliation package to deliver results for all of the state’s families.

What he did not tell us in that communication is that he is also fighting for “Big Pharma” by opposing President Joe Biden’s proposal to let Medicare negotiate drug prices. If Menendez is truly interested in delivering results for the Garden State families whose votes put him office, he would support this change.

A negotiation policy would apply to all pharmaceutical firms, so it would not in any way put drug companies with New Jersey facilities at a competitive disadvantage. It’s way past time to let the free market govern pharmaceutical prices in this way, and Menendez needs to get his priorities straight.
