As a parent, retired educator and former Girl Scout leader, it infuriates me that the Trump administration is refusing to release the Epstein files. In my book, sexual predators who traffic and attack children are among the lowest of the low. What does it say about us as a nation if those who occupy some of the highest offices in the land are looking to cover it up? What does it say when we put the interests of rich and powerful pedophile elites ahead of justice for the hundreds who were victimized by them?
The Trump administration has terminated Department of Labor grants and programs that fight child labor, forced labor and international human trafficking and support workers’ rights. They have delayed the enforcement of a rule that would protect coal miners from silica, a mineral that has been linked to lung cancer and other diseases that affect mine workers. President Donald Trump is also looking to shut down the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which has returned $21 billion to the pockets of working people and is the only federal government agency ensuring that consumers are protected from big business.
The refusal of Trump and his administration to release the Epstein files is just one more example of a rigged system that protect elites at the expense of everyone else.
