If you live in New Jersey, chances are your life is made immeasurably better by undocumented workers. They may be your friends, and your family members. They are people that you know and see and interact with every day. Your children may go to school with some of their children. They live and work side by side with you.
Yet in order to get to work in the state of NJ ,which will not issue them drivers licenses, these individuals are forced to break the law every day, and thus risk getting deported for trying to be economically self sufficient. They are left without any form of recognized official identification, making it impossible to get credit cards, rent apartments etc. Refusing to issue licenses to undocumented residents will not make them magically disappear, or return to the life-threatening countries which they left in the first place. It will only make the roads less safe and offer less opportunity for these individuals to do what they came here for: to work hard to care for their families and lead a life of some dignity.
Call your State Legislators and tell them to support proposal S3229 and that you stand with Governor Murphy!
